Al in Clinical Practice: Practical Integration for Therapists Without the Hype

Clinicians are being told Al will transform their practice, but the actual question is smaller and more useful: which tasks in your week could Al help with, and which should it stay out of? This workshop walks through the clinical workflow, intake, session prep, progress notes, treatment planning, treatment summaries, referral letters, psychoeducation handouts, and examines where Al tools add value, where they create more work than they save, and where they introduce clinical or ethical risk. We'll look at concrete examples of Al-assisted clinical writing alongside the prompts and review processes that make output usable. Clinicians will leave with a workflow they can implement Monday morning, scaled to their own comfort level.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Participants will learn:

  • Identify the categories of Al tools currently relevant to clinical practice and the specific tasks each is designed to support
  • Evaluate Al-generated clinical content against professional standards for documentation and clinical communication
  • Apply a workflow framework for integrating Al assistance into intake, progress notes, and treatment planning
  • Articulate which clinical tasks are appropriate for Al assistance and which should remain clinician-only
